The University of Leeds’ Nexus facility – the hub for innovators and entrepreneurs – was recently the setting of two fantastic events, and we were delighted to be part of both.
Space, students and big ideas
The UK SEDS (Students for the Exploration and Development of Space) Conference, brought together by the brilliant team at Space Hub Yorkshire, gathered some of the brightest young minds from universities across the region. Projects on display spanned everything from rocketry and rovers to cutting-edge space technology – a genuine showcase of the talent and innovative thinking emerging from local universities.
At the conference, we were thrilled to join RTC North in introducing our ESERO-funded Space Innovation project to the audience – a hands-on programme heading into local schools over the coming months.

Keeping schools cyber safe
The second event brought a different but equally important focus – embedding cyber security principles, skills and processes into schools and education settings. Educators, teachers and professionals came together for a thought-provoking day of discussion and collaboration.

Keynote speakers from the NHS and the Yorkshire and Humber Regional Crime Unit painted a vivid picture of the current threat landscape, while workshops sparked plenty of practical ideas to take away. A great mix of familiar faces and valuable new connections made.
Two brilliant events, two critical topics, and many inspirational people – acornITy was proud to be right at the heart of both.
